MoChWo 2018 –┬áStone Spouts: The Brink of Extinction

Stone spouts (Dhunge Dhaara) are both an important piece of traditional cultural heritage and an important source of water supply for some communities around the Kathmandu Valley (we have written about them previously here). Unfortunately, increasing water demands in the valley have lowered groundwater levels and reduced streamflow and many of the spouts are now either permanently or seasonally dry. One of the objectives of S4W-Nepal’s recent work and this corresponding research poster is to record, document, and characterize this trend that has been observed across the valley.
